Totally besotted with this milk weed skirt. Can I have it? Pretty please? It's not even for sale. Which is really too bad because I would totally buy it. Except, no I wouldn't. Want to know why? Because last week I GOT LAID OFF after nearly 6 years of working there. It's a long story but basically RECESSION ON meant drastic cuts at my office.
So I've taken a vow not to buy a single thing until I secure a steady paycheck once again. I'll miss all my former coworkers, but honestly I can't say I'm sad to go. I'm actually really excited for the next thing. Plus, Seattle's having some amazing weather so now seems like a pretty rad time to be unemployeed. And also, can I have that skirt? No, seriously. Gimme.

Help me out here. It is a skirt with some weeds on it? Cant you take one of your skirts you already have and roll around in a field?

Oh, no. After six years!!! Sounds like you've got great perspective about it though. You totally deserve to win that skirt giveaway!

Gah! Stupid people. They laid me off after about 8 years of service. Obviously loyalty means nothing to them. I would say sorry, but I can tell you are feeling about the same way I did, which is kind of elated! Want to stand in the unemployment line with me? Seriously though, I'm looking for weekday pals to hang out with!

Kirk, I want the skirts. Not the weeds.
Marielle, Honestly I'm happy to go. I've been saving money for a new car and re-siding the house, so if I don't find something right now it's not the worst thing in the world. Plus The Dude's still employeed. Double Income No Kids has it's benefits. Of course, I'm getting tired of driving the Taurus around and the house needs to be sided sooner rather than later. But I have no complaints. I'm sure it will all work out.
Maya, I don't really see it as a loyalty issue. They would have kept me on if they could afford me, but with the current economy and various factors something had to give. After I found out I couldn't stop smiling all day. I'm sad in a small way, but happy in a much bigger way. Change is good and I'm ready for something new. We should definitely hang out. When I'm not applying for jobs (and collecting unemployment) I plan on volunteering at NW Harvest. I also just signed up to volunteer at SIFF. Interested in doing either with me? Just let me know! :)
