Spring? Come at me.

I took this photo in the park below I5, across from Ivar's Fish House and Northlake Tavern. I didn't even know this tiny little park existed until a few days ago when I drove by it on a mission to find a parking spot. There are so many places in Seattle I've yet to discover, just one of many reasons why I love this city.

I have this plan to pretend I'm a tourist in the near future and do the tourist things I've never bothered to do... tour the Seattle Underground, ride The Duck, go up to Capitol Hill and get my picture taken with Jimi Hendrix's statue, take a swim in Greenlake, find the houseboat where they filmed Sleepless in Seattle and move in... okay, maybe not to last two. I've been meaning to spread the word about this and see if other people want to join me but that would involve work and I'm really into procrastination.

Also, I really don't appreciate being taunted by things like this, especially when I'm trying to wrap up projects that are giving me double vision.

I'm just say'n.

And in other news, in an offsite design meeting early today I interjected a relevant company's tag line into the conversation.  It was none other than Microsoft's latest Your potential.  Our passion. Except I kept saying Our passion. Your potential. And I probably said it at least twenty times like that before someone finally stepped in and corrected me. 

At least I didn't say cent and fronter.

In the past 48 hours I've...

thought about posting more pictures from Thursday night but haven't actually posted more pictures from Thursday night.  It's called procrastination.

missed seeing my friend Jamey perform over in West Seattle due to some drunken antics.  1) No, not mine (or The Dude's). 2)  I'll just leave it at that.  3) Thank God there's never a three because I'm afraid of what I might say if there ever were to be a three.

washed over half the blankets and towels that I own, used so much spray can carpet cleaner I'm pretty sure I'll never be able to bear children (without tails), and wore out the pint-size, ghetto carpet cleaner I bought way back in the days when my cat was using my living rug as her own, personal litter box.

turned off my cellphone and left it off.

made the trip to Fry's Electronics and escaped the store without stabbing someone else (or more likely, myself) in the eye before leaving that electronic Walmart like concrete box from hell.

visited Ikea, picked up some missing pieces to an item purchased two weekends ago, and left without purchasing a single new item.

engaged in an interesting conversation with a good friend who knows how to listen, share and just plain keep it real.

been pleasantly suprised by an unexpected voicemail from someone I haven't talked to in weeks.

actually made it to the grocery store and bought some actual groceries.  Like besides chips and salsa... whoa.  What. A. Concept.

discovered some peeps in Seattle just started a brand new comedy/variety series of events called the Moisture Festival.

watched episode one, season one of The Office.  No, not the American version.  The BBC original.  Oh yes.

realized that 27 was a pretty good year but also a rough one.  One that I enjoyed but am by no means sad about waving goodbye to.  One in which I could have continued to spin my wheels but instead made a consciencous decision to move on, to move forward.  Okay, so the whole move on, boot W out of office thing didn't work.  In 4 more years I can guarantee he's so out of there... (thanks to that 2 year term law on the books).

received several birthday cards/greetings/wishes in various electronic formats.  Technology rules.

Cent and Fronter

In a meeting earlier today, while explaining a layout to my coworker I overheard myself saying, "The layout is setup like that because [Mr. Blah] made it a requirement to keep that graphic cent and fronter at all times".  Cent and fronter?  Say hello to reason #243 why it's probably not a good idea for me to be front and center in any presentation with my company's clients, partners and/or associates.

Man, sometimes I wonder how I dress myself in the morning.

Why I love my mom

She's funny.  She's understanding.  She can cook like nobody's business.  And she sends me emails like this:

Dear Sprizz,

This is Mombo. What does a mother have to do to get a daughter to finalize yours and the Dude's plan for your 28th?! Does this mean that I'll be relegated to some old crone farm when I'm geezer age with narry a helper to so much as turn me over when my right side goes numb???? Shame on you! I've raised you better than this! Did I fail to tell you you ain't gettin NOTHIN for your Bday. Or you're getting VERY close, so snap your fingers away from the blogg and give the old hag a call.

I should explain a) my 28th birthday is on Easter Sunday this year and b) I gave her my website address a while ago but I didn't really realize she was actually reading it.  I mean, not that it bothers me because if it did I wouldn't have ever given her the URL in the first place.  Duh. 

So in summary, my mom... clearly cooler than your mom.  So don't even start with me.

Please stop pointing and laughing

Tonight, I stopped by Q's to pick up dinner because (after being at the office for over 10 hours) ! didn't really have the willpower/strength/energy to drag my arse to the grocery store and cobble together some sembelence* of a meal.  So it was Q's for dinner.

Anyways, I realize this story is going nowhere fast.  How 'bout I just get to the point?  So there I was at Q's waiting for my dinner, minding my own business when I heard not one but two crappy pop songs; Smashmouth's Can't Get Enough of You Baby and Jody Watley's Real Love.  Now, I'm not going to lie to you people.  I loved hearing both those songs. 

And hearing those songs made me realize you shouldn't hide what you like.  If crappy pop songs are your thing, own it.  Then again, I know full well that some things are better left unblogged, even if they're true.  So what I'm saying is if you come at me with a Jody Watley CD, cool.  But if you want to rip on crappy pop music, I'm down with that too.

CSS and HTML are making me insane.  Adobe Illustrator is the only thing keeping me from the ledge.

Thanks to Wheelson all my posts made it over to my new digs all in one piece (with comments!). Now I just have to go back through and update the image links. Blogger? It was nice while it lasted but we both knew at some point we'd have to go our seperate ways. Don't fret. We'll always have slow load times, publishing errors, and spinning on the dashboard for hours on end to remind us why I had to kick you to the curb.

Ring Ring.

My cellphone just rang while I was napping. At first I tried to ignore it, but after approximately 1.5 rings curiosity got the better of me. I had to get up and check it out. Right before I flipped open my phone the ringing stopped, and of course, the caller id function just conveniently decided not to work on this call. Damn, that's what I get for not turning my phone off during my nap or keeping it close enough to catch the call in time.

Anyways, I'm pretty sure it was a leprechan... offering me his pot of gold. Damn, damn, damn. Hey, little green troll? If you're listening, I'm awake now and ready for my three wishes.
