No, I don't miss college much.

It's been 8 years but I can still vividly remember begging my roommate with the car to take me to Burger King so I could eat a $1 whopper.  Or getting up at midnight to make a bowl of top ramen in my friend's hot pot.  Or treating myself to "chinese food*" in the deli of Haggens.  Dorm food makes you crave crazy things.  But you know an intervention is in order when fast food is a step up. 

Unlike the dreaded freshman 15, I actually lost 5 pounds on my steady diet of peanut butter toast, cereal and soft serve ice cream.  Not the healthiest of meals but, after that one time when I tried the lasagna and ended up biting into some day-old grayish breakfast sausage, it was all I could stomach.  To this day, I still avoid anything Marriott like the plague since they ran the food service when I lived in the dorms. Marriott, you can suck it.

*My first college roommate actually started giggling non-stop when I brought back my chinese takeout and the egg roll dropped to the ground.  She thought it was the funniest thing ever, "Look! It's an eggroll and it's ROLLING!".  Hardy har har.  Two weeks later I found myself another roommate. 

Although, let's be fair.  That was more about 1) waking up next to her loser boyfriend who had dropped out of high school in his tighty whities every morning, 2) her constant bemoaning the fact that she was a whole hour away from her parents, and 3) her daily complaints that she couldn't find jeans to fit her ankles.  Not her thighs or butt like a normal person, but her ankles for god's sake.  She was the only ever person I've ever met that ever complained about that.

6. Addition: The Straight Story (Based on a true story) Thanks for the reminder Amy. It's good.  You should rent it.  And if you don't like this movie, then no, we can not be friends.

Also, the Seattle Film Festival starts up this weekend.  The SIFF Cinema is cool and all but it's no film festival.  Yaay!

Long story short.

I got sick.  My girlfriend left last week for her trip around the world and won't be back for 7 months.  SEVEN.  And I was too busy with work to sneak away and give her a proper goodbye.  My mom came over for Mother's Day and we hit up the Ballard Sunday Market.  I longed for more time to make more crafts and shop at more thrift stores.  I found some hidden treasures.  I got sick again.  I hit up the Ballard Sunday Market again. 

I made a pact with myself to bake more.  I willingly agreed to sleep in a strange place with strange monitors attached to me while strangers watch me.   I enlisted a couple people to go see Barak with me on June 1st in Seattle.  I started reading Suite Française.  I made motel reservations for a seedy place WITH AN OUTDOOR POOL! in Eugene, OR and a swanky place in Portland, OR for a road trip in early June.  I put off buying new jeans, updating this site and a few other things.   

Striper by day.

I'm wearing this sweater today.  I bought it online months ago for $14.99 and that, my friends, is why the InternetS is awesome.  Fifteen dollars people.  One. Five.  What are some of your favorite online bargain haunts?

This is one of the 3 signs I'm holding up at right about now at the Vancouver Marathon. Unless I didn't get up in time. And if that's the case. LAME. But I'm pretty sure I got up.

So I was minding my own business today, thumbing through the latest edition of the Puget Sound Business Journal (yawn) when I noticed the following on the front page: Stylish H&M eyes Seattle.  Dreams can come true!

Please, please, please.  Hopefully by this time next year, if I'm craving a new coat, I won't have to debate about whether or not it's worth swimming across the Atlantic Ocean for.  Yes, I just ended that sentence in a preposition.  Neat, huh?  H&M!
