A friend of mine flew to Ohio last Friday to help get out the vote. He's been texting updates from the road. So far...
- Sarah Palin's bus passes. Get in the car. Bad Religion's "Sorrow" is playing on the radio. Hope.
- Biden stops by both campaign offices I'm working at but my canvasing partner insists we dine at a 200 year old pub. Cool, until we realize we've just missed Joe.
- Many die hard democrats have told me they will "not vote for the black guy". The race factor was underestimated. I'm sure of it.
What do you say to something like that? I texted him back, "Remind them he's half white!" Then The Dude steps up with a better tactic, "Suggest they only fill in half the circle for Obama when they go to vote." Really, there are folks out there, die hard democrats that won't vote for him simply because he's black? Wow, that makes me sad.
Ohio may be a more fucked up state than Florida or Texas. They expect so much attention during the election that it's annoying. See you downtown tonight?

tell them "Once they go Barack, they'll never go back!"
My colleague came up and she said her son wanted to wear that slogan on a t-shirt to his school today.
President Obama - I love how that sounds!

I own 3 Obama t-shirts. In the last week, I've worn all 3 of them multiple times. If the number of t-shirts of presidental candidates found within my household is any indication of who's ahead and projected to win, Obama is so going to totally take this things.
Unfortunately, that's not a good way to predict things and I'm nervous despite all the early projections. I will rejoice if it happens. Until then, keep the free coffee away from me. I'm already nervous enough.

Uh oh. I hope it's not a sign of things to come.

did you listen to this american life when they talked about the election. they talked to some of the people who were racist, and it was pretty shocking.
my sis's boyfriend's mom was like that too - solid D except won't vote for him cuz he's black.
just makes me feel sheltered/blessed here in the blue outer edges of the country.
