The recent crash of that plane in New York and the heroic actions of the pilot reminded me of one the most amazing documentaries I've ever watched. Errol Morris' First Person series which included an interview with Pilot Denny Fitch. It's full of truth. But it's also laced with heartbreak and tragedy. Such is life.
If you watch it, which I hope you will (as it is totally worth it), I hope you'll let me know what you think. His name, his choices, his philosophy, his determination, and the tears that cascaded down my face upon my first viewing, are still just as vivid as the day I discovered them. Perhaps you're not one of those people that believes things happen for a reason. Instead you reason that everything is chaos, that there is no connection to something bigger than ourselves. I am not one of those people.
I believe there is something bigger. Perhaps it is just the collective of ourselves. I don't know exactly. But I know for certain what we do and how we do it, truly matters. Perhaps I simply can't stand the thought of so much nothingness, followed by no rhyme or reason. But, honestly in my heart, I think feel it's more than that. After all, glass half full.
